About Nerissa Shaw, MBACP
I am originally from Buckinghamshire but have lived in Somerset for over ten years. I came to counselling after working in business in London for some time, followed by some time as a secondary school teacher.
I have been through counselling myself on more than one occasion (all good counsellors will have done) and those experiences helped me to deal with the difficulties that I have experienced in life. I know what it is like to be the client in need of help as well as the therapist who offers help.
I have a batchelors degree and a masters degree and my counselling training has resulted in two diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I did my training at Sweet Track Counselling in Glastonbury, which has a unique approach to counselling training, being much more extensive and encompassing than most college training.
I am a member of the professional body the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am on their Accredited Voluntary Register. I am committed to always learning more about counselling and work regularly on Continuing Professional Development.
